CONTOURING

Seeing photos like this can be utterly heart breaking, especially when no matter how much you spend, you can't get that contour right...

Now, let me be brutally honest with you. Unless you find a way to photoshop your face in real life: this ain't gonna happen. Also, you're beautiful without all that mud on your face, guys know it is all face, I mean come on, they're really not that dumb.

I would be lying if I said I did not contour. Sometimes it adds to a look and makes me feel better about myself. You need to remember when to stop, it is not essential that you contour every single day, ain't nodoby got time for dat. It is also just not practical. No one expects you to look your best for school - less is more. Here are my tips for contouring:

First up, don't spend a fortune. Just because a blogger/youtube user tells you that you need a certain product, i.e Nars Laguna Bronzer, does not mean you do. Of course, more expensive products mean better quality, but no one expects you to have the product. Experiment with a few drugstore dupes. Find out what works best for you. You can have probably 3 nice shades of bronzer for a Nars one at Boots. Plus, you won't feel dishearted if the product is not for you. There will always be another product you 'need' next week.

Secondly, don't expect a dramatic difference. A highlighter and a bronzer is not going to turn you into Kate Moss. Be realistic. Otherwise you will upset yourself, when you do not need to.

Finally be subtle. Knowing when to stop is important. If you don't need to highlight: do not do it. Use as little product as possible and build it up, this was it will look much more natural and won't be as intrusive if you're a first time contourer. Don't feel disheartened if it does not look perfect on your first shot, like other things, it will take time and practice. Be patient.
